Federal Solar Tax Credit Changes and How ISP Can Help!
Residential (25D): Credit Ending Soon
The 30% Residential Solar Tax Credit will be eliminated for all systems (solar-only, solar + storage, and storage-only) purchased after December 31, 2025. This change impacts all purchase methods, including cash, loans, and leases (no exception for third-party ownership).
Commercial (48E): Unexpected Elimination
Despite initial expectations, the Commercial Solar Tax Credit was removed late in the legislative process. The current stipulations include:
A final 30% credit is available for commercial projects only if a down payment is made within 60 days of the bill's enactment (anticipated in October 2025).
Projects must be fully operational by December 31, 2028, to qualify. No federal solar tax credits will be available for commercial projects after this date.
